Minutes of the July 13, 2009 meeting of:

The West Pittston Shade Tree Commission

 

                                                                       

             

 

The regular monthly meeting of the West Pittston Shade Tree Commission was held on Tuesday, July 13, 2009, at 6:30p.m., in the conference room of the West Pittston Borough Building.   Commission members answering roll call:  President McHugh, Vice-President Berti, Treasurer Orth, Assistant Treasurer Morris and Secretary Mansi. 

 

I.  Reading and Approval of Minutes

 

On motion of McHugh, seconded by Morris the minutes of the June 9, 2009 meeting were read and approved. 

 

II.         Reports

 

  1. Treasurer Orth reported an account balance of $3,664.04.
  2. Deposits included:  Visniski (Thelma Mae Thomas), 105.00.
  3. Disbursements included:  Lemardi, 100.00.

D.    On motion of Mansi seconded by Morris the treasurer’s report was accepted through May 12, 2009.

 

III.       Unfinished Business and New Business

 

  1. Smith property:  Pruning approved.
  2. Brannon property:  330 Franklin Street.  WPSTC sent a letter recommending removal of three trees and replanting.  Penn State Tree Service conducted a diagnosis and determined the trees are sound.  
  3. Pollard property:  Two trees that were planted as part of the WPSTC have died and will be replaced in the fall.
  4. Williams:  Replacement of (1) tree approved (October Glory).
  5. Hazardous Tree Removals:  Correspondence with regards to the WPSTC advising residents of a hazardous tree(s) on their property will be sent via certified mail.
  6. Tree Topping Occurrences:  Delaware Avenue, York Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue:  Pres. McHugh to initiate correspondence to residents who have recently topped trees on their tree lawns and will make reference to issuance of non-traffic citations.
  7. Tree Topping Notification:  Sec. Mansi to publicize borough code and notification to residents with regard to tree topping.
